Introducing . . .
The Lead Guitar Licks Encyclopedia
By Gregg Olsen
. . . a collection of the
most widely used guitar licks
in the world. |

Are
you a lead guitar player -- or want
to be one? Then you need to learn many of the
guitar licks included in this collection. These licks contain
rare, hidden knowledge of guitar techniques you'll want to know! If you learn all of the licks contained in this collection completely you'll be transformed into a reputable lead guitar player.
All
of the licks in the collection are tried and true licks I've used
in live performances for over 25 years . After years of playing
lead guitar in several bands I started to see what people wanted
to hear and dance to -- material they were already familiar with.
I also noticed that certain
lead licks drew more applause, while others didn't. The traditional
leads were the most popular. If I played a Chuck Berry song, people
wanted to hear a Chuck Berry style lead. At that point I began
to ask what lead styles went with what types of music, and the
idea for this encyclopedia was born.
There are many recurring
styles and leads or licks that come up over and over again every
few years that are the most popular. I have assembled them all
in this encyclopedia. The lick styles range from rock to jazz
to blues and many other styles.
This encyclopedia is designed
to be worked into your own lead repertoire. Each lick is presented
in "box form" -- meaning you can move the lick up or
down the fretboard, raising or lowering the pitch a half step
respectively. These licks can be combined by taking the lowest
note of one lick and transposing that into the highest note of
the next lick. All of the licks in the collection can be used
with any type of guitar.
As you continue to add
more lead styles to your repertoire, you'll use these licks repeatedly,
as they are some of the most commonly used licks in the world.
Of course, you'll also incorporate your own sounds into your lead
repertoire, but this collection helps put you on a firm footing
knowing how to use the lead licks used by some of the biggest
names in music over the years.
